Education

A degree in education will allow students to pursue careers in teaching, school administration, private education, counseling, and teacher education. Students will learn how to create a teaching curriculum, work with a variety of students, and learn how to work with other teachers and administrators. A career in teaching is very rewarding and challenging. While earning their degree, students will learn skills including: listening skills, demonstration skills, leadership skills, written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal communication skills.

These skills will be taught through real life exercises, scenarios, and by reading the accounts of other teachers. Preparing students for jobs in education includes internships where students will teach in classrooms so that they will learn how to feel comfortable in front of others. Student teaching will also give students a chance to practice what they have learned before getting a classroom of their own. There are many areas of teaching the students can pursue. These areas include: early childhood education, elementary education, secondary education, university education, special education, teacher education, and administration.
