Engineering

Within the engineering field, there are many areas that students can choose from. Industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architectural engineering, computer engineering, and chemical engineering are just some of the areas where students can earn their degree. Industrial engineering focuses on ways to make businesses more efficient by collecting and analyzing data. They also look at better ways to utilize employee labor and time. Electrical engineers work with electrical systems to ensure that power supplies, transformers, and electrical connections are working properly. Architectural engineers work closely with construction crews, architects, and others during the construction of buildings, homes, and other structures to make sure that they are following the building codes that are in place. Computer engineers not only repair and maintain current computer systems, they are also in charge of expanding or creating new ones. Chemical engineers develop new products using chemicals and other materials that people use on a daily basis. From cleaning supplies to gasoline that emits less pollutants into the environment, chemical engineers test new products to make sure they are safe.

Students who enter into an engineering program will have many options and should be able to find an area that they can excel in. Engineers are needed in all facets of the workplace, so there will be no shortage of jobs any time soon.
